Lieke Klaver to Hengelo

Lieke Klaver will run the 200m at FBK Games in Hengelo.

Lieke Klaver will run the 200m at the 42nd edition of the FBK Games in Hengelo on Sunday, June 4th. Klaver won a silver medal on the 400 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul last weekend, just behind Femke Bol. Additionally, Klaver and Bol also took gold on the 4x400m relay with their team noting a new Dutch record.

The progress 23-year-old Klaver has made this past year is impressive. Her best 400m indoor and outdoor time of last season were almost a second faster that the season best times of the year before, With a solid personal outdoor record in Eugene on the 400m (50.18) and two personal indoor records on both the 200m and 400m, Klaver has been performing well this year.

Lieke Klaver: “It's great to race close to home for once and not have to travel so much. This means that all my friends can also come and watch. Almost all my training buddies also participate, which actually makes it a great experience to run together. Furthermore, with Dutch athletics going so well right now, it will create a very nice atmosphere in the stadium; which will hopefully be sold out.”

Ellen van Langen (Meeting Director): “After her success at the World Championships in Eugene on the 400m with a 4th place and her silver medal last weekend at the European Indoor Championships, Lieke Klaver will make her appearance at the FBK Games on the 200m. A discipline that has already shown to fit her well as she is one of the fastest Dutch women on the 200m ever.”
