FBK Games and FBK Dubbele Mijl of Great Social Significance

Annually recurring events such as the FBK Games and the FBK Dubbele Mijl are of great social significance. This is the conclusion of researchers from De Haagse Hogeschool and the Mulier Instituut in two studies conducted in 2025. Both studies are part of the long-running ZonMw project MOVES.

Key findings – FBK Games:

  • 51% of visitors and 73% of volunteers had also attended in previous years;

  • 91% of visitors and 84% of volunteers are proud of the event;

  • 76% of visitors and 76% of volunteers feel part of a larger community at the event;

  • 93% of local residents believe the FBK Games are beneficial for Hengelo.

Key findings – FBK Dubbele Mijl:

  • Participants rate the event 8.1 out of 10;

  • 98% of participants experienced a sense of togetherness during the event;

  • 33% stayed in the city centre of Hengelo after the event;

  • 16% expect to engage in more sports after participating in the FBK Dubbele Mijl.
