FBK Games ready for more exciting battles

On June 6 (Whit Monday) the FBK Games is set for more exciting battles in both the women’s 100m Hurdles and 800m events. Dutch Hurdler Nadine Visser takes on the reigning American World Champion Nia Ali and two-time 1500m Olympic Champion Faith Kipyegon from Kenya will take on the current 800m World Champion from Uganda Halima Nakaayi over two laps.

Nadine Visser vs. World Champion 100mH Nia Ali
Dutch national record holder Nadine Visser takes on Nia Ali (USA) in the 100m Hurdles event. Nia Ali was crowned World Champion at the 2019 Doha World Championships. Ali secured the gold medal in a personal best of 12.34. Nia Ali (33) is also a 2x Indoor World Champion on the 60mH.

Nadine Visser (27) has excelled in hurdles since 2014. Until 2017 Visser combined the hurdles with Heptathlon until 2017 but has since successfully focused on solely the Hurdles. With her Dutch national records of 7.77 over 60mH indoors and 12.51 over the 100mH she has become a familiar face in finales of the big tournaments. Visser was crowned the 60mH European Indoor Champion in both 2019 and 2021.

“I’m so thrilled that I can race again after my hamstring injury. Last year I had to miss the FBK Games, so I am just over the moon that I am back in Hengelo again this year.” Nadine Visser said in a reaction to her upcoming battle with Nia Ali.

Fireworks expected for the Women’s 800m.
The 800m women’s event is set to be a beautiful battle whereby Faith Kipyegon (Olympic Champion 1500m) takes on Halima Nakaayi (800m World Champion) from Uganda. Kipyegon (28) arrives in Hengelo to work on her speed during the 800m in preparation for the World Championships that will take place this July in Eugene, United States of America where she will be a top candidate for the title.

With personal bests of 1.57.68 and 1.58.03 both athletes are in for an incredible battle.

Faith Kipyegon: “Before the World Championships I would like to test my speed over 800m. I am really happy to do this in Hengelo."

Halima Nakaayi: "This year started well for me, earning a medal at the Indoor World Championships. My focus now is on the World Championships in Eugene. Hengelo is the perfect meet within my preparation. I am looking forward to being back in Hengelo!".

Besides these four stars the FBK Games already announced Dafne Schippers (100m), Femke Bol (400mH), Lieke Klaver (400m), Liemarvin Bonevacia (400m) and World Record Holder Pole Vault Mondo Duplantis.

The FBK Games is the only athletics event on the world stage in the Netherlands and is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold. A series of 12 meets.
