Nadine Visser to FBK Games in top form

Hurdler wants to ‘put on another great performance’ this Whit Monday

Nadine Visser will compete in the 100-meter hurdles at the upcoming FBK Games on Whit Monday, the event in which she has excelled for over a decade. Since 2014, she has been in a league of her own in the Netherlands, and internationally she continues to reach new heights, consistently reaching the finals at major championships. On June 9, she will line up for the ninth time at the only international top-level athletics meeting in the Netherlands.

“I have such great memories from last year,” says Visser. “After three years, I finally ran a personal best again, and to do that in front of a home crowd was amazing! I’m really looking forward to showing something special again this year!”

“Nadine has been one of our key athletes in Hengelo for years,” says meeting director Ellen van Langen. “It’s great to have her back this year. Last year, she made incredible progress. Hopefully, she can show that progress again on June 9 at the FBK Stadium in Hengelo.”

The 30-year-old Visser ran a blistering time of 12.45 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles this past weekend in Atlanta, USA, with a slight tailwind (+2.1 m/s). She’s never started her summer season so strongly; in fact, until last year, she had never run faster than 12.51. Since 2014, when she was still a junior, she has been among the world’s best. Initially competing in both hurdles and the heptathlon, she focused even more successfully on hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay after 2017. In 2024, she continually improved her 100-meter hurdles time, with her best so far being 12.36 seconds. She finished fourth in this top form at the Olympic Games. This past indoor season, she also ran faster than ever in the 60-meter hurdles (7.72), earning a silver medal at the European Indoor Championships. Over the course of her career, Visser has won 15 medals at major international tournaments.

The FBK Games is the only international top athletics event in the Netherlands and is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, a prestigious series of 13 competitions across five continents. For more information on the FBK Games, visit www.fbkgames.nl.
