Femke Bol at the FBK Games 2024
Femke Bol will compete in the 400m at the FBK Games 2024
Femke Bol is set to compete at the FBK Games in Hengelo, Netherlands, on Sunday 7 July 2024, within the iconic FBK Stadium. This will mark the 24-year-old athlete's final appearance in front of her home crowd, before she heads to Paris for the Olympic Games.
Bol will compete in the 400m, the discipline in which she recently shattered her own world indoor record with a time of 49.17 at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24. She also holds the meeting record for this event from last year.
Anticipating her upcoming race, Bol expresses her excitement: “I am thrilled to run in front of local supporters in Hengelo, especially with the Olympics so close on the horizon. Competing in the Netherlands always fills me up with motivation and energy. I hope the stadium will be packed!”
The sky's the limit for Femke Bol. Before securing two world indoor titles in the 400m and 4x400m relay in March, she had already clinched double gold at the World Athletics Championships Budapest 23 last summer, dominating both the 400m hurdles and the 4x400m (w) relay. In 2023, she was honoured with the European Athlete of the Year and the Best Sportswomen of the Netherlands.
“We are delighted to announce Femke as the headline athlete for the FBK Games 2024,” says Ellen van Langen, Meeting Director. “She set an incredible meeting record last year and her recent performances, including breaking the world 400m indoor record twice within a couple of weeks and her double gold at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 24, are truly remarkable. We hope the FBK Games will provide her with the perfect boost before she heads to Paris for the Olympics.”
“Femke will compete in front of her own fans in what promises to be a full FBK Stadium,” adds Co-Meeting Director Hans Kloosterman. “Tickets went on sale three weeks ago and are selling fast. We aim to provide the best encouragement to the Netherlands' top athletes before the Olympics!”
